  • Use

    The area is to be used for public purposes such as public administration, shops, offices, public and private service, institutions, restaurants, hotel and homes. New constructions or change of use of buildings along Kussangajannguaq may only be used for public functions as shops, cafes, restaurants, hotels, hostels, tourist operators, hairdressers, etc. Subarea C17 includes detail areas: C17.1 of approximately 52,400 m2, C17.2 of approximately 46,000 m2, C17.3 of approximately 22,700 m2 and C17.4 of approximately 11,800 m2.

  • Current conditions

    The area covers an area of some 13 ha

  • Building provisions

    New buildings are to have a maximum height of 3 storeys. At selected locations in the detail area C17.1 new buildings can be constructed up to 5 floors. In detail area C17.4 new buildings can be constructed up to 6 floors.

  • Remaining available space

    The area has 1000 m² of available space. Once the abovementioned building potential has been utilised, the area is considered fully developed without any available space in the area.

  • Traffic service and utilities

    Road access to the area is to be from Kussanngajaannguaq, Alanngukasik, Nuisariannguaq and Kaaleeraq Poulsenip Aqq.

  • Listed, protected and preservation-worthy features

    B-7, B-8, B-9, B-10, B-11, B-15, B-17, B-20. B-25, B-26, B-31, B-750, B-963 and B-964 are preservation-worthy. These buildings can only be demolished or their appearances changed following prior permission by the municipal council. The area is designated an especially preservation-worthy area (section-2 area).

  • Regulated zones

    Regulated zones exist around the airport in the shape of obstacle limitation surfaces that consist of partly a horizontal surface and a conical surface, partly approach and take-off surfaces in continuation of the runway. The area is located under the obstacle limitation surface at the airport and is covered by approach and take-off surfaces. The maximum ridge level of buildings and facilities and the construction level of roads are variable and depend on the distance to the runway and a right-angled distance from the centre line. The area is located under the airport’s obstacle limitation surface, and is covered by the horizontal surface, where buildings and other facilities cannot be established higher than level 73.0 metres and roads no higher than level 68.0 metres.
