Strategic development plan
The development plan for Ilulissat Nord is hereby circulated for a six-week public consultation.
Purpose of the plan
The plan describes the future possibilities of developing Ilulissat northwards.
It is based on existing possibilities, but also aims to set out the framework for the development that will result from the future airport. The plan should not be seen as being binding on a detailed level: It rather lays out the overall guidelines, and serves as a tool for creating a common basis for the future development, to the benefit of the town, the municipality and anyone who wants to get involved in the future and growth of Ilulissat and Avannaata.
Content of the plan
The plan describes the future possibilities of developing Ilulissat northwards. Among other things, it defines principles for an improved infrastructure, including an alternative airport road. The plan lays out new industrial areas and a port by the airport, as well as residential and urban areas, e.g., allowing for new hotel construction. Furthermore, it maps the current possibilities for urban development and the possibilities resulting from changes to the water protection zone.
The plan is circulated for consultation for six weeks until 27 November 2020.
In that period, everyone may submit comments or objections at plan@avannaata.gl
