§ 19 Containers
19.1 Area allotments for containers are given permanent status if they meet the provisions in sub-sections 19.2 through 19.12.
These are minimum requirements, and it is always possible to apply for area allotment for camouflaging a container that involves stricter requirements than these minimum requirements.
Subareas in towns
19.2 A – Residential areas
Containers in residential areas are to be painted or clad to appear as a building.
19.3 B – Areas for port and industry
Containers that are used as sheds or small storehouses in areas for port and industry are to be painted or clad to blend into the company’s overall visual appearance. Any storage on top of containers is to be in tidy condition and fixed to avoid posing any danger to traffic in the area.
19.4 C – Centre areas and areas for public purposes
Containers in centre areas are to be painted or clad to appear as a building.
19.5 D - Unbuilt areas and areas for recreational purposes
Containers that by exception are set up in unbuilt areas are to be painted in a discreet colour to not stand out in the landscape, or to be camouflaged using cladding to appear as sheds.
19.6 E – Areas for technical supply plants and other infrastructure
Containers that are used as sheds or small storehouses in areas for port and industry are to be painted or clad to blend into the company’s overall visual appearance. Any storage on top of containers is to be in tidy condition and fixed to avoid posing any danger to traffic in the area.
Subareas in settlements
19.7 The same provisions apply to all subarea categories in settlements.
Containers that are used as sheds or small storehouses in settlements are to be painted or clad to blend into the settlement’s overall visual appearance. Any storage on top of containers is to be in tidy condition and fixed to avoid posing any danger to traffic in the area.
Subareas in open country
19.8 K – Huts, holiday cottages etc.
By exception, containers may be set up in hut areas and are to be painted in a discreet colour to not stand out in the landscape, or to be camouflaged using cladding to appear as sheds.
19.9 L – Special recreational areas
By exception, containers may be set up in special recreational areas and are to be painted in a discreet colour to not stand out in the landscape, or to be camouflaged using cladding to appear as sheds.
19.10 M – Keeping of animals and agriculture (area for sheep farming, agriculture, aquaculture, forestry, dog islands etc.)
Containers that are used as sheds or small storehouses in areas for port and industry are to be painted or clad to blend into the company’s overall visual appearance.
19.11 N – Technical supply plants and other infrastructure Containers that are used as sheds or small storehouses in these areas are to be painted or clad to blend into the company’s overall visual appearance. Any storage on top of containers is to be in tidy condition and fixed to avoid posing any danger to traffic in the area.
19.12 O – Unbuilt areas Containers are not allowed in unbuilt areas in open country.
19.13 Areas for keeping dogs Small containers that are used as sheds in areas for dog keeping are to be painted in a discreet colour to not stand out in the landscape, or to be camouflaged using cladding to appear as sheds.
19.14 Building regulations Containers that are used as buildings or building elements are to meet the requirements in the Greenland Building Regulations.
